At the end of her acceptance speech after winning Best Female Actor, Motion Picture Musical/Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, Rose Byrne said her husband, fellow actor Bobby Cannavale, could not attend the Golden Globes ceremony because he was at a reptile expo in New Jersey.

No, really.

Appearing on The Tonight Show last week, Byrne told Jimmy Fallon that their two sons wanted to adopt a bearded dragon, and that Cannavale stayed behind to attend Reptilecon, part of the Super Pet Expo at the New Jersey Convention and Exposition Center.

“This expo is the place where everyone goes, and it’s the place to go, and it was on the same day,” Byrne said. “And it would just be such a parent fail, so we’re doing it. I’m on board for the dragon, it’s going to be great.”

Byrne added: “He’s doing God’s work.”
