With the Montreal Canadiens getting fully healthy on the back end, Martin St-Louis now has various options on who to deploy on any given night. I like all the Habs D-men but if I had the choice I would deploy the following pairings:
I really think this gives the Habs the best chance to win on any given night.
Paired with Guhle this gives the Habs two big boys with Engstrom at 6 ‘2 and Guhle at 6’ 3. Furthermore, Engstrom can skate, move the puck intelligently, and so far he’s a +3, so he does not seem to be hurting the team defensively at even strength. He would compliment Guhle tremendously as Guhle plays a more rugged game but is still a good skater and can make smart plays.
I really think this would give the Habs three pairings who can skate, hit, put up points and break the puck out intelligently. This would increase puck possession in favorable areas as all 6 of those players see the ice incredibly well.
