Lightning’s Point exits game with apparent lower-body injury

Tampa Bay Lightning forward Brayden Point left his team’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers with an apparent lower-body injury on Monday night.
The injury occurred early in the second period when Point scored off a rebound in front of the Flyers’ net to make the game 3-0.
In the process, Point’s right leg got tangled with Flyers defenceman Cam York and the 5-foot-11 centre immediately grabbed his knee in pain.
Point needed help getting off the ice and couldn’t put pressure on his right leg.
The Calgary native was one of Canada’s first six roster players announced for the 2026 Winter Olympics, slated to begin at the beginning of February.
Point has 10 goals and 29 points in 36 games with the Lightning this season.
Tampa Bay sat in second place in the Atlantic Division with a 27-13-3 record entering Monday’s action and is one point behind the Detroit Red Wings for the division lead.
The Lightning are in the midst of a five-game road trip and will take on the Pittsburgh Penguins on Tuesday before travelling to St. Louis to take on the Blues on Friday night.
