Match Preview | Wanderers v Port Vale – Vertu Trophy

Wanderers host fellow Sky Bet League One side Port Vale in the Vertu Trophy Round of 16 on Tuesday night.

It was a memorable occasion the last time the Valiants traveled to the Toughsheet Community Stadium with the Whites winning 4-0 back in early November.

Port Vale have welcomed Jon Brady, formerly of Northampton Town, as their new First-Team Manager to the club with the club aiming to beat the drop.

The Valiants are rooted to the bottom of League One, 11 points from safety but are on a run of two consecutive wins, notably a 5-1 thrashing of Ian Evatt’s Blackpool.

Press Conferences

Steven Schumacher: “We’re in a little bit of a sticky run at the moment for results with only one win in the last six.

“This gives us an opportunity to put that right and start building some momentum and get some confidence maybe back into the players.

“I think we’ve played okay, even if the results haven’t gone as well as we wanted over the last six games. But Saturday we weren’t like us. We were below our standards and we need to get back to playing better football to try and win.”

Kick-off
