Two ugly games concluded what was otherwise a wild-card round for the ages. After the Houston Texans and Pittsburgh Steelers faced off on Monday, the divisional round is fully set. We already have odds for the four matchups, and boy, do they look juicy.
The closest spread as of Tuesday morning is Buffalo Bills at Denver Broncos, with the Bills opening as narrow 1.5-point favorites after a monster Sunday matchup against the Jaguars in Buffalo’s first road playoff victory in 33 years. Josh Allen was 28-of-35 for 273 passing yards, 33 rushing yards and three total touchdowns with no interceptions. Now he’s up against a formidable and rested Broncos defense.
Next up on Saturday is an NFC West rematch that was split in the regular season opener and finale. After an improbable (so many injuries!) win against the defending Super Bowl champions in Philadelphia, the San Francisco 49ers are 7.5-point underdogs against the rested No. 1 seed Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks are tied with the other NFC West team, the Los Angeles Rams, as Super Bowl favorites at +300 odds.
And it’s the Rams who are favored in the next set game of the divisional round, at 3.5 points over the Chicago Bears. The Rams and Bears had somewhat opposite wild-card experiences. L.A. was a massive favorite over the Carolina Panthers, but just eked out a 34-31 win after falling behind 27-31 in the fourth quarter. The Bears, on the other hand, had as little as a 5.6 percent chance of winning against their arch rivals, the Green Bay Packers, at multiple points in their wild-card game. Instead, they came back to win it 31-27. For that, they get to host one of the Super Bowl favorites.
The other matchup will feature the New England Patriots hosting the Houston Texans. The Patriots are 3-point favorites against a tough, seasoned opponent with Drake Maye in his second-ever playoff game. The Patriots have yet to face the Texans this season.
Here are the odds for the divisional playoff games set for this weekend.
