Dream Team managers should be aware that Lewis Hall is a bonus point magnet

WHILE Dream Team is a satisfyingly simple game at its core, it’s almost impossible for managers to be across everything.

That’s why we endeavour to lend a helping hand by highlighting certain trends, which brings us to Lewis Hall (£4m).

Newcastle’s No3 has become a player of interest because he is bonus point magnet.

At the time of writing, his tally of 32 puts him joint-fourth among all assets, level with Phil Foden (£5.4m) and Neco Williams (£4.2m).

Ezri Konsa (£3.8m) is the only defender who has earned more bonus points at this stage of the campaign.

MOST BONUS POINTS AMONG DREAM TEAM DEFENDERS

  • 33 pts – Ezri Konsa
  • 32 pts – Lewis Hall
  • 32 pts – Neco Williams
  • 25 pts – Michael Kayode
  • 20 pts – Matheus Nunes
  • 20 pts – Adrien Truffert
  • 18 pts – Marc Guehi
  • 18 pts – Reece James
  • 18 pts – Pedro Porro

The top three are in a bracket of their own and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Hall jumped to top spot before long.

The Magpies’ dynamic left-back has been on a tear of late having amassed 18 bonus points from his last six games.

This is a blistering burst of form.

For comparison, Guehi’s total of 18 bonus points have come from 30 appearances.

Furthermore, Hall has earned the maximum of five bonus points twice in the last three Gameweeks.

He did so against Manchester United in Gameweek 17, courtesy of seven successful dribbles, and repeated the trick against Bournemouth on Saturday.

Hall was introduced just before the hour mark against the Cherries in the FA Cup third round but had enough time (due to extra time) to rack up 13 player performance marks (PPM).

Konsa has played over 1,000 minutes more than Hall this season and yet he’s just one bonus point ahead.

Surely it’s only a matter of time until the 21-year-old leapfrogs the Aston Villa stalwart?

In fact, he may ascend to the top of the tree tomorrow night when Newcastle host Manchester City in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals.

Bonus points are not the only returns that matter, far from it, but players who excel in this aspect of the game often make for useful assets.

No team has more fixtures to fulfil than Newcastle before the end of Gameweek 23 and so Hall must be deemed a viable option at this moment in time.
