Winter temperatures return to Memphis
While the weather for Martin Luther King Jr. Day won’t be as frigid as during 2025’s record-setting snowstorm, the National Weather Service is nonetheless predicting a cold weekend leading up to the holiday.
“A much colder air mass will move in behind the cold front on Thursday, with highs likely struggling to rise out of the 30s,” the weather service wrote in the forecaster’s discussion. “By Friday, we may get some brief respite with temperatures warming back into the 40s to low 50s before another low pressure system is set to move in over the weekend.”
After the cool-off this weekend, temperatures are expected to return to normal starting Jan. 19.
Will Memphis get snow this weekend?
Predictions from Monday morning indicate Memphis has a slim chance of receiving more than trace amounts of snow by Saturday evening. There is a 5% chance for 0.01 inches and a 3% chance for 0.05 inches of snow.
