Former blue-chip commit schedules visit with FSU

The FSU Seminoles are focusing on improving their roster through the transfer portal, but that doesn’t mean they are neglecting the high school ranks either. With January here, schools will soon start hosting high school targets on visits, and a former FSU commit has locked in his next trip to Tallahassee.
Jaylen Scott, a four-star safety from Mobile, Alabama, announced on Tuesday that he will be visiting on Jan. 31. He has had a wild recruitment so far, he committed to the Seminoles on Jan. 18, 2025, during an unofficial visit. That pledge lasted until June, when he flipped to the in-state Auburn Tigers. He then backed off that pledge in December, shortly after Auburn fired head coach Hugh Freeze.
Despite backing off on his commitment, the Seminoles never stopped recruiting Scott. He also visited on Sept. 20, watching their game against the Ken State Golden Flashes. FSU had a ton of success in the 2026 recruiting cycle with former commits, landing four-star wide receiver Devin Carter, four-star linebacker Izayia Williams, and four-star running back Amari Thomas despite them decommitting from the Seminoles at one point in their recruitment.
Scott is ranked as the No. 154 overall player and No. 16 safety in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 5 player from Alabama. He is coming off an excellent junior season, recording 104 tackles, 2.0 tackles for loss, five interceptions, and six blocks in 12 games.
FSU currently has four commitments in its 2027 recruiting class, including two at safety in Mekhi Williams and Jemari Foreman. Scott would be another talented player that they would love to add to the group.
