Alabama Power offers energy-saving tips for cold weather snap

As temperatures drop, Alabama Power is providing residents with energy efficiency tips to help manage their HVAC systems and reduce power bills.
The company advises against treating thermostats like on-off switches during transitional weather, suggesting steady settings instead.
The Alabama Power app’s “My Power Usage” feature allows users to track how weather and habits impact energy consumption.
Additionally, the company said Home Energy Reports offer personalized insights, while simple checks like ensuring vents are unblocked and replacing air filters can improve efficiency.
Maintaining indoor humidity between 30% and 50% can also prevent heating systems from overworking.
Alabama Power encourages residents to plan ahead using tools like “My Power Usage” and “Bill Explainer” to monitor and adjust energy use.
