Love Island’s Charlie was dating me until the DAY he flew to All Stars – here’s why I think he’s not there for love

LOVE Island’s Charlie Frederick was dating a stunning brunette just one day before flying to South Africa for All Stars.

The reality star, 31, is set to enter the villa during tonight’s official launch, after the show was delayed due to wildfires in the area.

And while Charlie, who first appeared on the show back in 2018, says he’s looking for a genuine connection this time around, The Sun can reveal that he was seeing influencer Emily Oldham before entering the villa.

Emily, who has been casually dating the star on and off, says she spent time over the festive period with Charlie before he told her over brunch the day before leaving that he was flying out to appear on All Stars.

She told The Sun: “He’d mentioned a little while ago he was going away, then a bit later said he was heading to South Africa so I joked that that’s where they film All Stars, but he said he wasn’t going on it.

“I was with him the day before his flight and he told me over brunch.”

She continued: “He wanted it to come from him rather than me seeing it online, which I did appreciate. It did take me by surprise though, especially after all the teasing and jokes beforehand.”

Emily says that while the pair weren’t in a relationship, they had enjoyed dates and had even been abroad together.

“We’ve been on dates and a holiday together in the past, but we don’t live in the same city so it was always fairly chilled between us.

“We’d talked about seeing each other again before I head to Australia, so New Year’s was suggested.”

The content creator, who is moving from Manchester to Australia, says that Charlie even promised they would meet up after his All Stars stint.

She explained: “We left things on good terms – I wished him luck, he’s wished me the best for Australia, and we’ve said we’ll see each other out there.”

Charlie, who has been single for a year, is set to appear on the show alongside the likes of Millie Court and Whitney Adebayo.

And when the line-up was announced, Emily shared a video to TikTok which read: “Girlies, always eat your grapes on NYE instead of kissing a guy cos he’ll fly out to [South African flag] to go on Love Island All Stars the next day anyway”.

The video amassed almost 30,000 likes and much speculation in the comments – with fans guessing Tommy Bradley while others speculated it was Ciaran Davies.

However, Emily says of the post: “The TikTok I posted was just a jokey ‘oops’ moment rather than anything deep.”

While the pair are on good terms, Emily says she isn’t convinced Charlie, who also asked out former islander Emma Munro just days before flying to All Stars, is looking for love on the dating show.

“I’m not sure about love – more so winter sun and a bit fun,” she said of his stint.

Emily continued: “He seems very happy being single at the moment and focused on himself and his career.

“He’s restarted his PT coaching and mentioned wanting to do more TV, which is the case for a lot of people going back on the show so it makes sense.”
