New injury pops up for Seahawks LT Charles Cross

Seattle Seahawks left tackle Charles Cross, who is working back from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for the final three games of the regular season, is now dealing with a knee injury as well.

Cross was downgraded to a limited participant on Seattle’s practice report for Wednesday, listed with both the hamstring and knee injuries. On Tuesday, he was listed as a full participant with just the hamstring injury.

The future is bright, but Seahawks need to capitalize now

Cross’ knee injury calls into question his status for Saturday night’s NFC Divisional Round playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers. Prior to Wednesday’s practice report, he appeared on track to make his first start since Week 15.

If Cross’ availability is in question, that could be a major problem for Seattle. Backup offensive tackle Josh Jones, who started the past three games at left tackle in place of Cross, hasn’t practiced this week due to a knee injury.

Meanwhile, cornerback Riq Woolen (oblique) was limited for a second straight day and linebacker Ernest Jones IV (illness) sat out practice Wednesday.

On a more positive note, five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Demarcus Lawrence (Achilles) was upgraded to a full participant on Wednesday after being limited on Tuesday. Head coach Mike Macdonald said earlier Wednesday afternoon that he expects Lawrence to play on Saturday night.

Safety Coby Bryant (knee) and rookie tight end Elijah Arroyo (knee), who are both returning from injuries, were full participants for a second straight day.

In addition, backup linebacker Tyrice Knight (shoulder) was upgraded to a limited participant on Wednesday. Key special teams player Chazz Surratt (ankle), who spent the past six weeks on injured reserve, was upgraded to a full participant.
