Wembanyama limps off court with leg injury against Bucks

SAN ANTONIO — Victor Wembanyama limped off the court in the opening minutes of the San Antonio Spurs’ game against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night after injuring his right leg.

He returned to action early in the second quarter.

Wembanyama dropped to the court after appearing to make knee-to-knee contact with Milwaukee forward Giannis Antetokounmpo under the Bucks basket with 9:18 remaining in the first quarter.

Wembanyama rose and hobbled off unassisted in a half sprint toward the locker room.

San Antonio’s medical staff and Spurs CEO R.C. Buford followed Wembanyama.

The Spurs have provided no updates on Wembanyama’s status.

Wembanyama suffered a hyperextended knee on Dec. 31 in the fourth quarter against the New York Knicks in a similar play. He returned to the bench but missed the next two games.
