5.4 Million Viewers on HBO Max

“The Pitt” made a massive leap in audience size with its Season 2 premiere. Releasing on Jan. 8, the opening episode hit 5.4 million viewers over three days, marking a nearly 200% increase from the series premiere in 2025.

The episode has continued to accrue past that point as well; to date, one week after the premiere, it has reached 7.2 million viewers. These totals, measured by Warner Bros. Discovery, refer to U.S. viewership alone.

The increased attention on “The Pitt” comes as no surprise. The medical drama was an immediate hit with critics upon its debut last year and grew via word-of-mouth with each episode, eventually becoming a heavy-hitter at awards shows. At the Emmys in September, it took home five trophies including best drama series and best lead actor for Noah Wyle — then nabbed the same two awards at the Golden Globes on Sunday.

“The Pitt” was created by R. Scott Gemmill. The series is produced by John Wells Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, where JWP is under an overall deal. Executive producers include R. Gemmill, Wells, Wyle, JWP’s Erin Jontow, Joe Sachs, Simran Baidwan and Michael Hissrich. Along with Wyle, the cast includes Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa, Supriya Ganesh, Fiona Dourif, Taylor Dearden, Isa Briones, Gerran Howell, Shabana Azeez and Sepideh Moafi.
