Alabama Weather Update: Uncertain Snowfall Forecast Ahead

Models have trended slightly lower with any snowfall accumulations.
Even with the lower snowfall trends, there is still much uncertainty concerning amounts Saturday evening into early Sunday morning. This really hinges on “if” low pressure develops in the Gulf, and if it does, both “where” it develops and how strong it becomes.
- If a low-pressure area does not form, then flurries or maybe a short period of light snow may occur south of I-20.
- If low pressure does form but develops more towards the central Florida Panhandle, there could be light accumulations generally east of I-65 and south of I-85.
- Finally, if a stronger low develops closer to the Mississippi/Alabama coasts, this would result in more snowfall across southern Alabama.
As of right now, models are trending towards lighter, if any, accumulations.
