Thousands of Users Report Outage on Twitter

X went down on Friday morning as tens of thousands of users reported issues relating to the social media platform controlled by Elon Musk.
Users attempting to reach the site formerly known as Twitter were met with error messages such as: “Something went wrong. Try reloading.” The reload button then resulted in an unresolved spinning circle.
As of 10:52 a.m. ET, 200,000 had people reported issues with X, according to Downdetector, a downtime-monitoring service provider that tracks outages by collecting reports from a number of sources. Most problems reported on Downdetector (56%) were related to the X app, while 33% were related to the website and 10% cited a server connection.
The issues with X began around 10:10 a.m. ET and seemed to briefly resolve around 10:35 a.m. At 10:41 a.m., the error messages resumed.
This isn’t the first time X has experienced connectivity issues. The platform suffered a similar, widespread outage in November, when tens of thousands of users reported error messages like “Internal server error / Error code 500” and “Please unblock challenges.cloudflare.com to proceed.”
In March 2025 the platform experienced multiple brief outages spanning 45 minutes. There were 21,000 incidents of people in the U.S. reporting issues with the platform and 10,800 in the U.K., per Downdetector.
Before that, there was an outage in August 2024, and other past issues have included the impairment of key features in July 2023, and the March 2024 crashing of Ron DeSantis’ Twitter Spaces live audio event during his official announcement that he would be running for U.S. president.
