Guy Ritchie’s ‘Tulsa King’ Replacement Gets Exciting Season 2 Update

MobLand is expanding its narrative this upcoming season, and recent reports reveal that Spain could play a huge role. Majorca Daily Bulletin reports that La Fortalesa in Pollensa, an iconic location in Mallorca, is seeing a flurry of activity related to a week-long shoot of MobLand Season 2. This was corroborated by Mandeep Dhillon, who plays Seraphina Harrigan, in an Instagram story that showed the unmistakable island landscape where shows such as Lioness and The Night Manager have filmed. Apart from Dhillon, it is unclear who else in the cast is on the island since other series stars such as Tom Hardy and Pierce Brosnan could arrive later.

This report is in line with the expected direction of the story, as it was teased that the show could be expanding its scope beyond London. “There are international elements to organized crime, which are touched on in Season 1 and the control of drugs, ammunition and weapons and people and all kinds of things that go through Europe and from Africa through to South America, Pakistan and the variable commodities that move around Europe,” Hardy speculated in a previous interview. He added:

“There are families that are involved in each European country that are vying for power to have that status to be able to move these kind of commodities through and who polices that and how that fits into a world stage.”

Is ‘MobLand’ Worth Watching?

The series received generally positive reviews from critics and is currently rated fresh at 76% on the review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes. It also managed to amass a huge viewership on Paramount+, making it the platform’s biggest foreign debut. Collider’s Nate Richard reviewed the first season and noted that while MobLand does not break any new ground in the gangster genre, it’s enjoyable nonetheless. He wrote:

“[Guy] Ritchie has a real knack for making TV shows that’ll keep you invested. MobLand isn’t a grand reinvention of the gangster show, but it does offer plenty of twists and turns, paired with a magnetic cast that will have you eagerly anticipating every new episode.”

MobLand also stars Janet McTeer (Kat), Joanne Froggatt (Jan Da Souza), Lara Pulver (Bella Harrigan), Geoff Bell (Richie Stevenson), Jasmine Jobson (Zosia), Anson Boon (Eddie Harrigan), Emmett J. Scanlan (Paul), and Daniel Betts (Brendan Harrigan). The series was created by Ronan Bennett, with Ritchie directing several episodes.
