Report: Seahawks QB Sam Darnold’s status in doubt for playoff game vs. 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks may not have their quarterback for the divisional round.

Sam Darnold has not thrown a football since injuring his oblique on Thursday, throwing his status for Saturday’s playoff game against the San Francisco 49ers in doubt, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.

The loss of Darnold would represent a major blow to the top-seeded Seahawks, who earned a bye through the wild-card round in the NFC.

Darnold has enjoyed a strong first season with the organization, starting all 17 regular-season games while throwing for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

The 28-year-old was set to make his second career post-season start after an ugly playoff debut with the Minnesota Vikings last season in which he managed 245 yards and one touchdown.

Backup Drew Lock, who made just three pass attempts all season, would start if Darnold is unable to go.
