Everton are interested in a January move for Fenerbahce striker Youssef En-Nesyri.
Sources briefed on the situation, speaking on the condition of anonymity, indicated Everton’s interest in En-Nesyri is not at an advanced stage and they are yet to make a formal bid for the forward. Sources also said Everton are interested in a deal for West Ham United striker Callum Wilson, who has been in talks to end his deal at the London Stadium.
The Athletic reported in December that Everton will likely reassess their striking options in January if their struggles in front of goal continue to persist. Beto has scored just twice in 21 Premier League appearances this season, while summer signing Thierno Barry has three goals.
En-Nesyri, 28, has scored seven times in 15 Super Lig appearances this season. He was on a four-player shortlist at Nottingham Forest as the Premier League club bid to strengthen their forward options in the January window, but Olympiacos’ Mehdi Taremi has since emerged as the leading candidate.
En-Nesyri joined Fenerbahce from Sevilla in 2024 and has scored 38 goals in 77 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish club.
He is currently representing Morocco at the Africa Cup of Nations, and has scored 25 goals in 90 appearances for his country following his senior debut in 2016.
Everton signed Barry from Villarreal in a deal worth an initial €32million (£27.7m; $37.3m at current rates), plus bonuses in the summer. He scored his first goal for the club during December’s victory over Forest, and has scored twice in his last three Premier League appearances.
Beto finished last season with eight Premier League goals — seven of which came during the second half of the campaign — but he is yet to replicate that form this term, with January’s goal during the loss to Brentford his first in the top flight since the win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of August.
Everton also saw striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin depart the club in the summer following the expiration of his contract.
