Updated Saturday, January 17th at 11:32am – Most highways across the Pembina and Red River Valleys have reopened Saturday morning after being closed for a number of hours since Friday night.

At the time of this update Saturday, the majority of highways in the region were reporting bare conditions, with good to fair visibility in blowing snow. Highway 75 from Emerson to Ste. Agathe was listed at partly snow covered.

Northwesterly wind gusts up to 70km/h are expected early Saturday morning, diminishing throughout the morning, before shifting southwesterly in the afternoon at 20km/h. Highs today will be around -18, with windchill values in the mid -30s in the morning and near -30 in the afternoon.

Another Alberta clipper is set to bring impacts to Southern Manitoba Saturday night through much of Sunday with a combination of snowfall and strong winds, once again.

According to CMOS Accredited Weathercaster Chris Sumner, it’s likely we will see conditions very similar to what we had Friday into Saturday with extended periods of substantially reduced visibility due to blowing snow.
