Australian Open day one LIVE: Aryna Sabalenka shakes off early break; Ball kid collapses in the heat and is helped off by player; No.11 seed bundled in shock upset

Aryna Sabalenka has broken Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah in the 10th game to secure the opening set 6-4.

The French debutant refused to make it easy, pushing the world No.1 until the very final point.

Commentating for Nine, Jelena Dokic highlighted the unique tactical challenge Sabalenka faces against a left-handed opponent she has never met before.

“I think Sabalenka is just confused on where to go because it’s so hard to read. Lefties are always hard to read for us, again because we don’t play them,” she said.

“We don’t know where their pulls going to go, especially if you haven’t played the opponent.”
