CVS Lindenhurst stabbing: Pharmacy worker fatally stabbed at Long Island store on Christmas Day; man arrested

LINDENHURST, Long Island (WABC) — A suspect has been arrested and charged after a man working at a CVS in Lindenhurst was fatally stabbed on Christmas.
John Pilaccio, 43, was arrested and charged on Friday with second-degree murder in connection to the deadly attack.
The incident happened at a CVS located at 20 East Montauk Highway around 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Edeedson Cine, 23, a resident of West Babylon and store employee, was stabbed in the chest while working behind the counter.
Cine was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where he was pronounced dead.
On Friday, police detectives searched sewer grates to comb for clues in connection to the deadly attack as customers of the store paid their respects to the victim.
“He’s a very nice gentleman, just to say hello and he just did his business, I’m very close to the pharmacy,” said customer Michael Flannery.
At the time of the attack, the suspect fled the scene on foot.
It’s still unclear if the suspect and victim knew each other or if this was some sort of customer dispute.
CVS told Eyewitness News that the video requested was sent to Suffolk County police on Friday afternoon, but it “took quite a bit of time to pull and package in the specific manner they asked for.”
Police officials say witnesses and outside video led them to the person of interest and based on who he is, they say they assume he was in the CVS for nefarious reasons.
Pilaccio is being held at the 3rd Precinct, and is set to be arraigned on Saturday.
