Piers Morgan says he is recovering in hospital following a hip replacement

The broadcaster said he had tripped on a small step in a London restaurant

In the post on X, he explained that he “tripped on a small step” while dining out in London and joked the New Year was “off to a cracking start”.

Piers went on to explain that he had fractured his femur to such an extent that he required a new hip.

He is now recovering in hospital and says he will have to use crutches for six weeks while he is unable to travel long-haul for 12 weeks.

At the end of his post he joked: “I blame Donald Trump“.

He also uploaded a picture of himself recovering in a hospital bed with a thumbs up to the camera.

On Instagram, Piers uploaded the same post with an additional image of an X-Ray scan showing the fracture.

Well-wishers flocked to the comments to wish him a speedy recovery.

Fellow journalist and broadcaster Emily Maitlis commented “Noooo. This is absurd,” alongside heart emojis.

As did Eamonn Holmes who posted: “Well, sincere sympathies my friend but I am the expert in this field if you want advice or a visitor!”

Former England cricket star, Monty Panesar, also took to the comments, saying: “Wishing you a quick recovery so you can celebrate Arsenal’s success!”

Piers was snapped in December reuniting with Susanna Reid who joined him and his wife Celia at their annual Christmas bash.

Susanna hosted Good Morning Britain with Piers from 2015 to 2021, when Piers spectacularly walked off the show after an on-air argument never to return but remain good friends.

The night of fun came as a double celebration for Piers, whose Youtube channel talk show has proven such a success it’s now got its own spin-off.

Piers’ Uncensored topped 4.3million followers last year – with his interviews with celebrities and political figures continuing to make headlines.

These have included head-to-heads with Candace Owens over her comments about Erika Kirk, through to heartwrenching interviews with Sharon Osbourne after the death of her husband, Ozzy.

Sharon spoke to Piers in her first interview since the legendary Black Sabbath star’s death in July last year.

In the interview, she shared the sad details surrounding his death and his last words, which were: “Kiss me. Hug me tight.”

Now, Piers has branched out into a new genre; history.

History Uncensored was launched in December with journalist Bianca Nobilo as the host – starting with a look into the Nuremberg Trials following World War II.
