Billy Bob Thornton says reports of his ‘Landman’ demise are ‘AI-generated’

Reports of Billy Bob Thornton’s departure from ‘Landman’ have “nothing to do with reality.”

Billy Bob Thornton connects ‘1883’ cameo to ‘Landman’ role

Billy Bob Thornton shares how his “1883” cameo as Marshall Jim Courtright led to his role in “Landman.”

What a week it’s been for both “Landman” Tommy Norris and the actor who portrays the tough-talking oil man on the Paramount+ series, Billy Bob Thornton.

In the Jan. 11 episode, Norris was abruptly fired from his job as president of M-Tex Oil by company owner Cami Miller (Demi Moore). Shocking, of course. But the fictional storyline somehow worked its way into real life, with reports circulating that Thornton could be leaving “Landman” after two seasons.

Oscar-winner Thornton, 70, calls the basis for the reports, “AI-generated crap.”

They’re not true, no matter what happens in the “Landman” Jan. 18 finale on Paramount+.

“There’s an AI report that Demi and I are a couple now, and there’s one that I’m leaving the show,” says Thornton. “They have nothing to do with reality.”

With Season 3 scheduled to begin shooting in the spring, Thornton vows, “I’ll be there.”

The actor doesn’t give specifics on his potential stay, but the “Landman” hit continues to roll. Western icon Sam Elliott joined the cast in Season 2 as Tommy’s father, TL, which has been a ball.

“It’s been great working with Sam. And I love doing the show,” says Thornton. “I’ll be here as long as it plays out. If it’s five years, great. If it’s six, I’m there.”

As for Tommy, we’ll see on Sunday if Cami reverses her decision or turns her right-hand oil guy into an adversary.
