Coleen Nolan has confessed that she’s “given up” on New Year’s resolutions as she reflected on the unpredictability of the year ahead, describing 2026 as “exciting – and a bit scary.”
The singer and TV host spoke candidly about her outlook on life, her fitness routine, and the ongoing grief following the loss of her sisters Bernie and Linda.
Linda, a star of Loose Women and Celebrity Big Brother who tirelessly advocated for breast cancer awareness, passed away at the age of 65 in January 2025 after being admitted to Blackpool Victoria Hospital with double pneumonia.
She was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 and declared cancer-free in 2011, but in 2017 she was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. Bernie, meanwhile, succumbed to breast cancer in 2013 at the age of 52.
In conversation with My Weekly, Coleen revealed: “I don’t make New Year’s resolutions. I’ve given up because I always fail. As for 2026, I kind of like not knowing what the future holds. I find it really exciting – and a bit scary,” reports the Mirror.
The 60-year-old also shared her long-standing desire to participate in Strictly Come Dancing, admitting she had been repeatedly overlooked despite her enthusiasm. “I’ve always, always wanted to do Strictly.

“They’ve never asked me – even though I have literally pleaded, begged and put my life on the line for them. I did Dancing on Ice, in 2009, and just thinking about it gives me flashbacks!” she said.
Nolan also discussed her health and fitness over the past 18 months, describing the physical demands of running her Staffordshire smallholding. “I’ve noticed I’ve got fitter in the last 18 months.
“I bought myself a little smallholding in Staffordshire, so I’ve got about 30 animals that all have to be fed, mucked out and groomed. It’s real manual labour lifting hay bales, so I get my exercise from that.”
Reflecting on her personal life, Nolan acknowledged the profound impact of losing her sisters, who left a lasting mark on her both personally and professionally.

Coleen, alongside her sisters Denise, Linda, Bernie, Maureen, and Anne, was part of the pop group The Nolans, recording hits such as Gotta Pull Myself Together in the late 1970s and early 1980s.
The mother-of-three stressed that reuniting The Nolans without Bernie and Linda would be impossible. “It wouldn’t feel right for us to reunite and go back out on tour as The Nolans without Bernie and Linda. It would just make me miss them, if it’s possible, more than I already do,” she said.
Nolan is currently touring with her This Is Me show, giving fans a glimpse into her life and career. Tickets are available via glasswork.co.uk/on_tour/coleen-nolan-tour-dates.
