‘Masters of the Universe’ Trailer Delivers First Look at He-Man Transformation & Skeletor

Masters of the Universe fans have finally been given their first look at the upcoming reboot of the classic 80s franchise with a trailer that will turn any 40-something into a gibbering nostalgic wreck. From the most cartoon-accurate interpretation of several classic He-Man and the Masters of the Universe heroes and villains, to the first real live-action Eternia ever put on the big screen, this is a movie that fans have wanted for the last four decades.
Directed by Travis Knight, Masters of the Universe is the culmination of more than a decade of changing writers, directors and studios, as the He-Man franchise became an almost impossible task for anyone who attempted to bring it to screens. However, it seems that the wait is one that is about to pay off in a big way, as first impressions have suggested this is the Masters of the Universe movie that could probably not have been done better.
The cast of Masters of the Universe features Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam Glenn / He-Man, Camila Mendes as Teela, Jared Leto as Keldor / Skeletor, Alison Brie as Professor Evelyn Powers / Evil-Lyn, Idris Elba as Duncan / Man-At-Arms, Sam C. Wilson as Kronis / Trap Jaw, Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson as Goat Man, Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress of Castle Grayskull, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm / Fisto, Sasheer Zamata as Suzie, James Purefoy as King Randor, Charlotte Riley as Queen Marlena Glenn, Jon Xue Zhang as Ram-Man, and Kristen Wiig as Roboto.
‘Masters of the Universe’ Has Received Heroic First Reactions
A test screening of Masters of the Universe was reportedly held back in November, and the reaction coming out of it was incredibly positive – even for Jared Leto’s inclusion in the movie as Skeletor. While there were no specific details about the movie shared, as is usually the way with such screenings, there were several comments online about the overall feel of the movie and some reactions.
“I talked to somebody who has seen He-Man,” John Campea said on his show. “Who has seen it in its early stages, and they said, ‘It’s amazing.’ And this isn’t somebody who’s got any dog in it. This isn’t somebody that has anything to benefit from it. They said it’s amazing. They said they were totally shocked. Completely surprised. But they said it’s amazing.”
Now fans have been given their first real look at the movie after several teasing set images, wrap images, and one official shot of Nicholas Galitzine as Eternia’s hero. While there is still a while before the movie’s release in cinemas in the summer, this has certainly been enough to continue the hype for the movie building.
