Rams QB Matthew Stafford wins 2025 PFWA MVP

Stafford beat out Drake Maye as the NFL’s Most Valuable Player for 2025

The Pro Football Writers of America announced on Wednesday that Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been voted the league’s Most Valuable Player for 2025. It’s his first time winning the award and could be a sign of things to come at the NFL Honors show next month when the Associated Press awards are announced.

Stafford beat out Drake Maye for NFL MVP after the two went back and forth late in the year as the favorites to win it.

Stafford led the league with 46 touchdown passes and 4,707 passing yards, earning honors as a first-team All-Pro for the first time in his career. He was also selected to the Pro Bowl for his outstanding play all year.

This season, Stafford had 12 more touchdown passes and 143 more yards passing than every other quarterback. At one point in the season, Stafford had thrown 28 touchdown passes without a single interception, the longest such streak in NFL history, breaking Tom Brady’s previous record.

His 46 touchdown passes were a career-high and a franchise record, throwing only eight interceptions and posting a passer rating of 109.2, which was second-best in the NFL.

In nine of the 17 games he played during the regular season, Stafford threw at least three touchdown passes, throwing at least two touchdown passes in all but two regular-season games, as well.
