On Tuesday, Second Lady Usha Vance and Vice-President J.D. Vance announced they’re expecting their fourth child. The baby, a boy, is due in July, they said in a joint statement. “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy,” they said. “Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.” In the statement, they thanked their doctors for providing “excellent care” and their staff “who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”
This is the first time in history a Second Lady has been pregnant while in office, per NBC News. The Vances aren’t the only White House couple expecting a baby — press secretary Karoline Leavitt as well as Katie Miller (Homeland Security adviser Stephen Miller’s wife) also recently announced they were pregnant. Usha and J.D. already have three children: two boys, Ewan and Vivek, and a girl, Mirabel. In a tweet congratulating them on the announcement, the official White House account called the current Trump administration the “most pro-family administration in history!” That’s certainly one way to put it.
