‘Daily Show’ Hilariously Flips 1 Fox News Obsession On Trump

Donald Trump on Tuesday was effortlessly mocked on “The Daily Show” over the Nobel Peace Prize, as the president spent years complaining that he should have been awarded one — only to land a hand-me-down last week.

It wasn’t lost on the show that Fox News routinely decries such laurels as “participation trophies” if the left is involved, prompting a montage of MAGA pundits with a superimposed photo of Trump holding his prize.

The “Daily Show” kicked things off with the ever-humble president himself declaring during a news conference earlier this month, “I can’t think of anybody in history that should get the Nobel Prize more than me.”

The remaining clips focused on some of Trump’s biggest on-air supporters.

Among them was Fox News host Sean Hannity accusing House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) during a November broadcast of actively trying to keep the government closed amid the shutdown at the time — to supposedly avoid giving Trump a “win.”

“Is that what it was about?” Hannity asked. “Ego? Because you didn’t win anything. … Hakeem Jeffries has yet to see the writing on the wall. He is proud of the Democrats, this performative shutdown. He’s ready to receive his participation trophy.”

While the right frequently accuses Democrats of using empty symbolic gestures to score cultural or political points, Trump has arguably given himself some colossal participation trophies, as well, and FIFA awarded him a peace prize seemingly created just for him.

The “Daily Show” cheekily scored its video to rather classy music for stark contrast.

The montage eventually showed Fox News contributor Johnny Joey Jones arguing on “The Big Weekend Show” in December that “participation trophies go against the spirit of masculinity” — while defensively discussing key races Republicans lost in November.

The apparent fragility on display did not end there, however.

“We’ve gone too much to a participation trophy culture rather than a championship trophy culture,” said former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy during an appearance on “The Will Cain Show,” before the montage cut to its third Fox News host.

“Credit fights always seem kind of petty,” said Greg Gutfeld during a segment on the Israel-Gaza conflict, as a photo overlaid by the “Daily Show” showed Trump gleefully posing with the Nobel Prize. “He can take all the credit he wants, but it’s a participation trophy.”

Trump was practically campaigning for the Nobel Peace Prize last year by repeatedly championing his own purported triumph in ending eight conflicts around the world, but he instead saw the honor go to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado.

He has since been brutally mocked on social media for having Machado gift it to him.
