By the power of Grayskull, we have the trailer!
On Wednesday, Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Studios released the trailer for their live-action Masters of the Universe feature film, which gets a theatrical release in the U.S. on June 5, 2026. All we can tell the rest of the world at this point is that Sony Pictures International Releasing will … internationally release … the He-Man movie in June. A teaser was posted on Tuesday.
The trailer brings us the bored Adam Glenn (aka Prince Adam/He-Man — played by Nicholas Galitzine) wasting away in his corporate America cubicle. (His desk plate’s listed pronouns of He/Him is a fun nod to both modern society and, you know, He–Man.) That is, until somebody tracks down his sword. Things are about to get heavy on both Earth and Eternia.
Masters of the Universe is a sci-fi adventure movie based on the iconic 1980s Mattel toy line. Directed by Travis Knight, Masters sees Prince Adam return to Eternia. Strapped with his Sword of Power, He-Man and his He-pals — Teela (Camila Mendes), Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and others — are gonna take down the evil Skeletor (Jared Leto). Spoiler alert, I guess.
The real star of the show is, of course, Battle Cat, the giant green armored tiger whose alias is Cringer, Prince Adam’s wimp of a house cat.
The trailer ends on a battle between He-Man and a pretty badass-looking Skeletor. It’s cool, except for the appearance that much of the final live-action appears to be… not live-action at all, so much as computer-generated video. I’m just not sure why a significant portion of this particular scene would need to be CGI (as opposed to, say, Battle Cat). The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Mattel with those questions; we are awaiting a reply.

Masters of the Universe also stars Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson, Charlotte Riley and Kristin Wiig as the voice of Roboto.
There were a lot of cooks in the kitchen for the screenplay: Chris Butler, Aaron Nee, Adam Nee and Dave Callaham wrote the script. The Nees came up with the story alongside Alex Litvak and Michael Finch. Masters of the Universe is produced by Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Robbie Brenner, Steve Tisch and DeVon Franklin; it is executive produced by Ynon Kreiz, Bill Bannerman and David Bloomfield.
