The PGA Tour makes its first stop on mainland United States of the 2026 season at La Quinta Country Club in Coachella Valley, Calif.

Scheffler will try to claim his first career title at The American Express after a dominant campaign in 2025 that saw him claim two Major titles (PGA Championship in May and The Open in July).

Other top-ranked golfers playing at this tournament include No. 5 Russell Henley, No. 6 Robert MacIntyre, No. 8 Ben Griffin and No. 10 Justin Rose. Nine of the top 20 players on the World Ranking will be participating in this tournament. Sepp Straka, last year’s winner with a minus-25 total, will be back to try to defend his title.

Six Canadians will be in the field for this tournament: Nick Taylor, Taylor Pendrith, Adam Svensson, Mackenzie Hughes, A.J. Ewart and Sudarshan Yellamaraju.

Pendrith finished tied for sixth in the first event of the 2026 season last weekend at the Sony Open, five shots off winner Chris Gotterup. Taylor couldn’t maintain his early momentum, as he entered the final round on Sunday one shot off the lead but finished tied-13th after finishing an even par in his final round.

Yellamaraju, a native of India who was raised in Winnipeg, was the big surprise of the Sony Open for Canadians. The 24-year-old finished tied-13th at nine-under in his first career PGA Tour event.

Hughes and Ewart will be making their debuts for the 2026 season in this tournament.
