Midfielder Liam Kinsella has issued a message to Cheltenham Town supporters after his departure from the club was confirmed on Thursday afternoon.
As revealed by Gloucestershire Live, the 29-year-old is leaving to pursue another opportunity, with his contract at the club terminated by mutual consent.
Kinsella spent almost exactly two years at Whaddon Road after arriving from Swindon Town, going on to make 89 appearances in all competitions.
The former Walsall man became a popular figure among Robins supporters for his wholehearted approach and commitment to the cause, typified by his trademark crunching challenges in midfield.
In a statement issued to Gloucestershire Live, Kinsella said he believes the club is now in the perfect position to kick on under the leadership of Steve Cotterill.
“It’s been a privilege to represent this football club, through the highs and the lows we have been on these two years since I’ve been at Cheltenham Town. We’ve all stuck together and are heading in the right direction again.
“I’ve met some incredible people along the way, from the staff I’ve worked with every day and the players I have shared a dressing room with and of course the fans, who have been right behind me from the moment I stepped into Cheltenham Town.
“I can’t thank them enough for the support they have shown for me over the last two years and I honestly wish them all the success for the future.
“They’re in safe hands with the management staff and of course the gaffa, who is a born winner and I firmly believe will take this club back to where it belongs.
“A special day for me was walking out with my son as captain against Carlisle, it will be a day I will never forget. It’s something you dream as when you’re younger and to share that moment with this special club and my family was one of the highest moments of my career.
“Thank you Cheltenham Town, Kins.”
