Exclusive: Leeds could move for £75,000-a-week striker if he drops his wage demands

Leeds United are eyeing up new centre-forwards in the winter transfer market, but could move for a versatile option who can play anywhere across the frontline instead.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Graham Smyth recently confirmed Leeds are set to pursue an out and out number nine in the January transfer window.

“Buonanotte’s arrival ticked the attacking midfielder box for Leeds and it would only take some unforeseen circumstances to draw them back to the table for (Romano) Schmid.

“They were in talks over a deal, although had not made an offer and would not have made one at the price quoted by Sunday’s reports from transfer journalists.

“But multiple club sources insist that their attention is now on the centre forward position and possibilities in the current market to sign another targetman.”

The obvious name on everyone’s lips is Jorgen Strand Larsen, who is expected to leave Wolves with the club staring down the barrel at relegation.

The Whites could work around PSR…

The Molineux outfit are thought to have cut his price to a figure of around £40m, and a whole host of Premier League clubs are circling for the Norwegian, including Leeds.

However, the Whites could revisit an old target after a fallout with his manager, but they will have to move quickly.

Leeds eyeing Napoli forward Noa Lang

Sources close to the club have told Football FanCast that Napoli attacker Noa Lang is once again an option for Leeds despite him being on the verge of a move to Galatasaray, though they may now have to wait until the summer.

Leeds have long been linked with the winger, who can play on either flank or up front, but his current wage of £75,000-a-week is deemed prohibitive, given it would make him one of Leeds’ highest paid players.

Lang has featured in all five of Napoli’s games since the turn of the year, but had a very public fallout with manager Antonio Conte earlier in the season, drawing criticism for his attitude after he publicly questioned the manager’s selection decisions.

“I don’t know what I have to do more in order to start. I think it’s better if I don’t say anything more now,” the 26 year-old said. “I spoke with him once. That’s it.”

It’s not the first time the Netherlands international has been in the spotlight for his attitude either, after his rather confident remarks upon leaving Club Brugge.

Making most of his appearances from the bench, Lang has scored once and provided two assists for in Naples this season, and is closing in on a loan move to Turkey, which may force Leeds to wait until the summer to make their move.
