New James Bond Front-Runner is Reportedly a Real Monster

It has been a little while since someone really jumped on the guessing game of who will be the next actor in the role of James Bond. Now, yet another name has entered the fray with several reports and alleged sources pointing to a new Oscar-nominated star having been prominently “in talks” to slip into the dangerous world of 007 in his first outing under the control of Amazon MGM Studios – something many believe to be his most dangerous mission in 60 years.

Who is this latest contender to the Bond throne? After playing a real monster in Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein – and gaining recognition for it with an Oscar nod – it seems that Jacob Elordi could be adding to his busy schedule with a commitment to one of the most coveted roles in Hollywood.

The latest rumors have circulated from two different sources, which could indicate that there is some kind of truth behind them or simply be the same fabrication being picked up by different people. Showbiz 411 shared a report stating that Bond 26 director Denis Villeneuve and the movie’s producers have “had meetings” with Elordi, who will soon be seen alongside Margot Robbie in Emerald Fennel’s take on Wuthering Heights.

Running parallel to this rumor, World of Reel has also stated that their “well-placed source” has noted that Elordi is being considered one of the main front-runners for the role. Of course, as is always the case, these rumors are just that until Amazon MGM Studios make what will be a big public announcement about the casting of Bond 26. As one of the biggest pieces of casting news in years, it is not something that is going to be done quietly and without fanfare.

Why All James Bond Rumors Are Likely False

For several months, it was hard to turn around without coming face-to-face with a rumor of who was the new main contender to be James Bond in his seventh official iteration. Recently, many of these rumors have died down, mainly after it was suggested by Deadline’s Justin Kroll that a casting announcement was not expected to be made until after a script for Bond 26 was in place, likely sometime around mid-2026.

Of course, there is only so long you can go without still speculating on Daniel Craig’s replacement, and there have been so many different rumors about which actors are in the frame that it is becoming easier to name those who have not been connected to the role in some way.

From Henry Cavill to Fantastic Beasts star Callum Turner, big Hollywood mainstays to relative unknowns, the fact of the matter is that there are still no front-runners, no real hints as to who will or won’t be unveiled as the next 007, and, above all, no official sign that casting is even underway yet on the movie. If anything, official comments and lines have clearly shown it to be the exact opposite, with Villeneuve wanting to make sure that he has the best actor for the role based on the movie he will be making rather than an online popularity contest.
