David Wright to host a conference on men in childcare during World Forum on Early Education and Care

The World Forum on ECE is held every two years in different countries across the world. This year the event takes place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 14-17 April.
Alongside the conference, Wright who is the Forum’s national representative for England, as well as part of the leadership team for the global Men in ECE Working Group, will hold a one day event dedicated to the topic of men in early years education.
Wright also won Nursery World‘s Lifetime Achievement award in 2022 for his work in the sector, including advocating for raising the proportion of men working in early years settings.
Speakers at the one-day event, ‘A man for All Reasons’ also include the founder of Men in Childcare Edinburgh, Kenny Spence.
Jerry Parr, the owner of a global consulting company dedicated to early education, and Quincy McIntyre-Brandt, an assistant lead at a forest school programme in Canada are also taking part.
The mission of the World Forum on ECE is to promote an on-going global exchange of ideas on the delivery of quality services for young children in diverse settings. The World Forum Foundation (WFF) is committed to improving the life chances of all children throughout the world by connecting, informing and inspiring the adults who support their growth and development.
Since the first in-person gathering in 1999, over 12,000 early childhood professionals from 151 nations have participated in World Forum events.
More than 500 early childhood professionals, colleagues and advocates from 45 plus countries will come together for this year’s event.
Topics being covered include:
- Children’s rights
- Child development, health and wellbeing
- Curriculum, pedagogy and care
- Family engagement
- Leadership in early childhood
- Play
- Technology and AI
- Workforce and staffing
Wright said, ‘I first encountered the World Forum in Belfast in 2009. The reason I continue to be involved with this global community, 17 years later, is because of the profound influence it has had and continues to have in my personal and professional life.
‘It is a movement that lives out our shared values together – children, change, relationships, spirit, difference. We come together to advocate for the rights and needs of all children across the world. It is a powerful force for good in an increasingly unstable and unjust World where children continue to need strong voices to speak up on their behalf.’
