Liverpool’s chances of qualifying for the Champions League were dealt a blow with a disappointing defeat against Bournemouth. The Reds suffered a 3-2 defeat on their trip to the Vitality Stadium – conceding a stoppage-time goal which saw them leave the south coast empty-handed.
Arne Slot’s side were trailing 2-0 in the first half – owing to goals from Evanlison and Alex Gimenez – before Virgil van Dijk got a goal back for Liverpool just before the interval. Dominik Szoboszlai then equalised for Liverpool in the second half with, yet another free-kick, which gave the Reds hope they could claim a victory on their travels.
However, they in turn conceded a stoppage-time goal from Amine Adli and have missed out on the chance to go further clear of their rivals for a top-four finish, which include Manchester United and Chelsea.
