New Dragon Ball Game Announced, Project: Age 1000

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

A brand new Dragon Ball game, Dragon Ball Project: Age 1000, has been revealed during the Genkidamatsuri livestream, and it’s coming in 2027.

Although Dragon Ball fans might be a bit starving when it comes to the anime, anyone who’s into video games has been incredibly well fed for the past few years. Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has been keeping steady for nearly a decade, Kakarot seems like it’s on a similarly lengthy trajectory, and Sparking Zero just gave us the best Dragon Ball game since FighterZ, no matter what the internet says.

That’s not even mentioning The Breakers, Dragon Ball Legends, or Gekishin Squadra, which all go to show just how much of a staple Dragon Ball has become in the world of gaming. As if all of that wasn’t enough, today’s Genkidamatsuri festival featured a brand new game announcement that’s arguably one of the most exciting in some time – Dragon Ball Project: Age 1000.

A Brand New Dragon Ball Game Is Coming, But We Don’t Know Much About It

And Yes, It Was Worth Staying Up Until 2am For

As promised, today’s Genkidamatsuri featured the reveal of a new game project. That game turned out to be Dragon Ball Project: Age 1000, a mysterious project that Akira Toriyama was deeply involved with before his passing. The trailer featured a new character designed by Toriyama who can turn into a Super Saiyan and seems to have some sort of relationship with Goku.

The project has been in the works for quite some time now, but Bandai was reluctant to tell us too much more about it for now. The title “Age 1000” seems to suggest that it’s going to take place in the far future, which is a very interesting setting for a Dragon Ball game. Toriyama didn’t just design the main character, either, as he worked on multiple others as well.

More information about the mystery game will be revealed at Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour 2026 later this year, and you just know that I’ll be counting down the days. For now, we’re just going to have to watch that trailer over and over again and get theorising. It’s worth noting that Dragon ball Online started in the year 1000 as well, so the two could be connected.

Even though I was hoping for Xenoverse 3, Age 1000 has really caught my attention. Toriyama being so involved is a massive and very welcome surprise.
