Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) has issued a yellow warning for severe thunderstorm Sunday in the Montreal area.
Thunderstorms capable of producing strong gusts and heavy rain are possible starting Sunday noon through the evening. The day will see a high of 27 Celsius, feeling like 35 C with humidity and a low of 20 C.
ECCC says severe thunderstorms may produce tornadoes. Heavy rain can also result in flash floods.
Forecasters warn that it can be dangerous to be on bodies of water during thunderstorms. They also recommend going indoors when there are thunder and lightning which can be fatal.
Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible.
Forecast
Monday will see more of the wet weather with a risk of thunderstorm bringing 15 to 25 mm of showers through the day. The afternoon could see gusts of up to 40 km/h. Temperature-wise the day will be a mild 24 C and a low of 17 C.
Tuesday is forecast to be sunny with a high of 28 C and have a clear night with a low of 18 C.
Wednesday will be similar during the day with a high of 29 C but clouds roll in at night for a low of 20 C.
Forecasters say the clouds will stick around Thursday and Friday with highs of 27 C and lows of 21 C and 19 C respectively. Starting Thursday evening there is a 60 per cent chance of showers through Friday night.
