3 positions the Raiders should consider addressing at No. 36 overall

Everyone expects the Las Vegas Raiders to select Indiana Hoosiers quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall selection in the 2026 NFL draft. Once that projection becomes reality, general manager John Spytek will shift attention to the 36th overall pick. We’ve identified three positions the Raiders should consider addressing with that selection.
EDGE
The Raiders seemingly have a constant need at EDGE opposite Maxx Crosby. Malcolm Koonce is scheduled for free agency for a second consecutive offseason. The next defensive coordinator deserves to see the Raiders pair Crosby with another pass rusher who is consistently capable of winning the edge.
Wide receiver
The Raiders drafted two wide receivers last year in Jack Bech and D’onte Thornton Jr. It’s early, but neither wideout convinced that they are definitely a long-term solution at the position. Spytek must invest in Mendoza’s development at quarterback. Adding another weapon at receiver is key to aiding Mendoza’s acclimation.
Cornerback
The cornerback position was a sore spot for the Raiders throughout the 2025 season. Spytek should definitely re-sign Eric Stokes, and Darien Porter is a young corner who should improve as a sophomore. Even if Stokes is retained, the Raiders require more depth at competition at the corner spot.
