AAA teased a major announcement from Penta on this week’s episode. Overall, the announcement is cool. In terms for Penta himself, you might shrug your shoulders at the news.
Penta revealed that the Rey de Reyes tournament returns this year in AAA. It’s been ten years since he first won that competition. Unfortunately, it sounds like Penta will still be out due to his shoulder injury. To honor the moment, Penta will be present to hand the ceremonial sword to the winner on March 14 in Puebla, Mexico.
The format for this year’s Rey de Reyes tournament is four fatal four-way qualifiers with the winners advancing to the finale at the namesake event. The first qualifier will be Jack Cartwheel versus Aerostar versus Apollo Crews versus La Parka. Contestants in the remaining qualifying bouts have yet to be announced.
Best of all is that WWE is continuing with the tradition of awarding the winner with a huge sword. There is also an extra bonus. The winner will earn a shot at the AAA Mega Championship, which is currently held by Dominik Mysterio.
