Kaizer Chiefs tipped to secure Bafana Bafana ‘keeper on free transfer

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly in pole position to sign Bafana Bafana international Renaldo Leaner on a free transfer.

Learner was most recently on the books of Sekhukhune United where he was their No.1 goalkeeper.

However, the two parties went separated ways with Sekhukhune United taking to their social media platforms to confirm the 28-year-old’s departure.

Now, according to SABC Sport, both Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu immediately showed great interest in the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.

Nonetheless, Leaner has seemingly made up his mind about joining Chiefs where he would battle it out against their three other goalkeepers for a place in the starting line-up.

As things stand, Chiefs have Brandon Petersen as their first choice, Bruce Bvuma and Fiacre Ntwari as their second and third respectively.

Leaner will hope to impress the newly-assembled technical team led by Fernando da Cruz during pre-season.

“Kaizer Chiefs have won the race for goalkeeper Renaldo Leaner, with SABC Sport led to believe that the Soweto giants have beaten rivals Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu to his signature,” reports the publication.

“The public broadcaster established that Chiefs have now tabled a firm offer to the Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, with only the final formalities, including personal terms and a medical, still to be concluded before the move is completed.”
