Rs 400 crore stolen near K’taka-Maha border
Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara stated that the Maharashtra Police have informed the state about a major currency theft worth Rs 400 crore near the Karnataka border. Some suspects have already been arrested in Nashik, and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to conduct a detailed inquiry. Parameshwara emphasized that the preliminary information points to the theft occurring near the state border and said that the full facts will become clear only after the investigation is complete.

Non-Hindus prohibited from entering Gangotri Dham
Non-Hindus will be prohibited from entering Gangotri Dham in Uttarakhand after a decision taken unanimously during a meeting of the Shri Gangotri Temple Committee. According to a Chief Minister’s Office release, this restriction will apply not only to Gangotri Dham but also to Mukhba, the winter abode of Maa Ganga. Shri Gangotri Temple Committee Chairman Suresh Semwal stated that, as per the decision, the entry of non-Hindus into the Dham will be strictly prohibited. He added that the ban will also remain in force at Mukhba, the winter residence of the deity.
