Dozens of firefighters have been tackling a large house fire with nearby homes evacuated as a precaution.
They were called to a house on Castle Street in Shrewsbury at 03:22 GMT on Tuesday and seven fire engines were sent, a Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said .
People were reported to have been in the building, they added, and a West Mercia Police spokesperson said they have closed surrounding roads.
People were urged to avoid the area.
