After watching the teaser at the end of last night’s episode, fans have been flocking to social media to brand Scott a “bully” for his behaviour towards his co-star.

Now Sean’s family, who are running his social media in his absence, have taken to his Instagram to share a statement.

They began: “I just wanted to come on here and say a massive thank you for all the outpouring of support we’ve had for Sean over the last couple of days – especially since the teaser for tonight’s episode.

“Obviously, it’s hard to pass judgement based on clips alone, because as we all know with reality tv, there’s always more going on than what we’re shown.

“But we know Sean personally, and for him to be reduced to tears because of someone else’s words tells us he must be genuinely upset – and our hearts are breaking for him right now. We really hope he’s okay. It’s hard to watch.

“We truly believe Sean has grown a lot since his previous Love Island experience, and that he’s been the most authentic version of himself he can be up to this point in the show.

“We really hope this situation doesn’t ruin his time in there or put a dampener on should be an incredible experience. We’re so proud of him.”

Referencing fans labelling Scott a “bully”, his loved ones wrote: “We know the word “bully” has been thrown around a lot in the last 24 hours but these are really strong allegations and we don’t want to add fuel to the fire.

“What we do want is to ask everyone to be kind – to all the contestants, not just Sean – and to remember that reality TV isn’t always a full representation of what’s happening.

“Once again, thank you for all the love and support you’ve shown Sean. If it’s possible, I’ll personally make sure Sean sees and reads all your messages when he’s out,” they signed off.

In the teaser clip for tonight’s episode, a divisive new game is introduced which sees islanders ‘gift’ each other presents based on some controversial card prompts.

“A game of giving wipes the smile off some faces,” Iain Stirling promises via voiceover as the dramatic scene unfolds.

Scott is seen handing a gold-wrapped gift to Sean, shortly followed by him declaring: “The behaviour towards Shaq has been snakey.”

After receiving the ‘gift’, a rattled Sean is seen clapping back at Scott: “You humiliated me.

“You’re not my mate, so if you want to mug me off in front of everyone – do your thing.”

As the two face off against each other, their fellow islanders are seen reacting in shock.

The teaser clip then ends with Scott telling a teary-eyed Sean: “I don’t conform to your tears.”

Viewers will have to tune into tonight’s instalment to see the drama explode between the boys.

The pair have no love lost between them after Scott entered the villa on night one and took aim at Sean.

He told him he didn’t see him as an All Star and wasn’t happy with his behaviour on his original series.
