Paris Hilton breaks down in tears as she admits in new doc that sex tape scandal stopped her emulating her idol

PARIS HILTON has been called all the derogatory names under the sun since her ex-boyfriend leaked their sex tape in 2004.
And in her new documentary, Infinite Icon: A Visual Memoir, she admits she thought her career was over when the explicit footage of her with poker player Rick Salomon went public.

Breaking down in tears, the Stars Are Blind singer says: “It was one of the most painful experiences I have been through.
“I was terrified. Is this going to ruin everything I worked so hard for? I had always looked up to Princess Diana and Grace Kelly and all these elegant women, and I felt like I could never be like these women as no one would see me like that because of what he did to me. I thought life was over and I didn’t want to show my face again.”
Despite her anguish, Paris went on to become one of the world’s highest-paid DJs.
In her documentary, which hits cinemas on Friday, she says of the sex tape’s release: “My family told me not to give it oxygen, so I didn’t. I smiled and I kept going.

“I’d walk into a room and hear whispers or, worse, straight-up strangers calling me a slut or a whore, like they knew anything.
“The shame didn’t even belong to me, but I carried it anyway.
‘Almost crushed me’
“I didn’t want to go on tour, I didn’t want to face the noise, because no matter where I went, it felt like the world had already made up its mind. It almost crushed me . . . I said almost.”
Paris adds: I sat with the pain for a long time, then I realised this was my life. Why would I give away who I am at my core?
“I refused to let anyone else take away my power, my dreams. So what did I do? I kept dancing.”
Paris says that, before the tape, she was living the dream, explaining: “For a minute, in the early 2000s, life felt like one giant afterparty. I began to feel invincible and like hope was finally real and within reach. Everything seemed to be going great and I began to dream of the life I could have.

“Love, career, friends. It seems obvious looking back on it now, but I was young and had no idea the destruction of that innocence was right around the corner.”
Paris says her “dumb blonde” persona was created as a defensive mechanism.
She even spoke in a higher pitched tone when slipping into character.
She explains: “Just because of my last name, people would be judgemental. So I’ve been playing a character all my life.
“It made me remember who I was before the world tried to take that from me. When I was confident, free and didn’t care what anyone said. Now, it’s hard, as people are so judgemental.”
In November 2021, Paris married venture capitalist Carter Reum in a lavish Bel-Air wedding.
‘Playing a character’
They welcomed a son, Phoenix Barron, in 2023 via surrogate and a daughter, London Marilyn, less than a year later.
She said: “I am just so grateful that I found Carter. He has made my life so amazing.
“I feel like I can soar now as I have nothing to worry about and I have someone who is lifting me up higher than I have ever been lifted in my life.”
NE-YO and AKON are launching a nostalgia-packed tour following the success of other acts inclduing Pitbull and Flo Rida.
They have announced a joint arena tour kicking off in Dublin on April 24 and taking in Newcastle, Glasgow, Leeds, Manchester, Birmingham and London.
The pair have eight No1 singles between them, so I’m sure it will be quite the party.
RACE? NO ’ARM IN IT, LOUIS
HE had his arm in a sling when he performed his UK tour in April 2022 – now almost four years on, Louis Tomlinson has finally fessed up to how he fractured his elbow.
At the time, he kept the description vague and said he had hurt it in a “running race”, but now he’s admitted he did it by zooming full pelt into a brick wall.

The singer, who has a song called Broken Bones on his new album How Did I Get Here?, which is in the lead for No1 this week, said: “I used to be really quick as a young lad, a sprinter. So I decided to have a running race with one of the support acts and he was claiming he was really quick as well – and I had a few drinks.”
He added on the Zach Sang Show podcast: “The finish line was far too close to a wall. Now, I’m a competitive guy. I was throwing everything into the sprint. By the way, I lost.
“But I threw everything into the sprint and I went to stop myself at the wall and there just wasn’t . . . there was too much force because I’m so quick.”

And while she looks like a sexy Cruella DeVil here, she admitted that she can be a real “villain” and reflects that in the movie.

The As It Was singer was already due to play eight shows at the venue, which meant he would surpass Michael Jackson as the male solo act to have played there the most times on a single tour.
The extra dates were added last night after pre-sales on Monday and Tuesday attracted millions of fans. General sales begin on Friday.
Harry is on course to score his third No1 single with Aperture this Friday, ahead of the release of his fourth album – Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally – in March.
And even if that album is pants – which I’m sure it won’t be – he can afford to toast a glass of expensive champers, or ten, with this latest news.
