Rebecca Ferguson’s Controversial Netflix Thriller Finally Drops Off Charts After 76M Hours Watched

Rebecca Ferguson’s new sci-fi thriller with Chris Pratt is now playing in theaters everywhere, and fans are leaving behind her last movie of 2025. Near the end of last year, Ferguson teamed up with Idris Elba (Hijack) and Gabriel Basso (The Night Agent) for A House of Dynamite, the gripping political thriller that was released in limited theaters last year before it began streaming on Netflix around the world. In the months leading up to A House of Dynamite, the film was being viewed as a major Oscar contender. However, when the Academy Award nominations were announced last week, A House of Dynamite’s name was nowhere to be seen.
This has led A House of Dynamite to fall off Netflix streaming charts almost completely. The film premiered at the Venice Film Festival weeks before its arrival on Netflix to stunning reviews, which led to it earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of over 90% from its first batch of critics. However, as more scores came in, this critic’s rating only dropped — it now rests at 75%. The audience-driven Popcornmeter falls around the same rating of 77%. Many who watched A House of Dynamite were sour about the film’s ending, which seemed quite abrupt and absent of any real resolution. The film still racked up 76 million hours viewed on Netflix, though.
Noah Oppenheim wrote the script for A House of Dynamite and Kathryn Bigelow directed the film. Bigelow is best known for her work on the Oscar-winning war epic, The Hurt Locker, which stars Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie. She also worked with Chris Pratt on Zero Dark Thirty, the legendary political thriller detailing the mission to capture or kill Osama bin Laden. Oppenheim made his feature writing debut in 2014 on The Maze Runner, the sci-fi film directed by Wes Ball.
When Does Rebecca Ferguson’s Next Project Come Out?
Rebecca Ferguson’s next movie on the schedule is The Immortal Man, the Peaky Blinders spin-off movie coming to select theaters on March 6 before it begins streaming on March 20. She will also team up with Andrew Garfield for the fantasy movie, The Magic Faraway Tree, which does not yet have an official date but is confirmed to come out sometime this year. Ferguson will close out the year by reprising her role as Lady Jessica in Dune: Part Three on December 18. However, she has confirmed that she will only have one scene in the sci-fi threequel.
