CATA to unveil Rosa Parks Tribute Bus in Lansing

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) – The Capital Area Transportation Authority will unveil its Rosa Parks Tribute Bus on Wednesday to honor Parks’ legacy.
CATA will showcase the bus Feb. 4 in front of the Michigan State Capitol, marking the 70th anniversary year of the Montgomery Bus Boycott and Transit Equity Day, which is observed annually on Parks’ birthday.
The tribute bus is wrapped to resemble the original bus preserved at the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation in Dearborn.
The bus will be available for free public tours while it is parked on Capitol Avenue in downtown Lansing. Inside, visitors can view a timeline of the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks’ silhouette also appears in a window, and her seat is marked with an honorary cover.
The unveiling is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. News 10 will livestream the event, which will be available to watch in the player above or on the WILX app.
