Valencia CF and Fundació VCF Back Cancer Patients, Boost Research Efforts

Valencia CF and Fundació VCF are taking significant steps to support cancer patients and cancer research as part of their commitment to World Cancer Day on February 4. This initiative underscores their dedication to improving cancer treatment and achieving a 70% survival rate by 2030, as stated by the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).

Support for Cancer Initiatives

This week, as part of the Club’s ‘ADN Mestalla Solidari’ initiative, Valencia CF hosted representatives from key organizations at Mestalla. These included:

  • IVO (Valencian Institute of Oncology)
  • Las Triples (focused on breast cancer)

Both entities were invited to attend Valencia CF matches: IVO during the Copa fixture against Athletic Club and Las Triples during the LALIGA match against Real Madrid CF.

Bracelets of Hope

As a tangible symbol of their support, both the men’s and women’s Valencia CF teams wore the ‘Bracelets of Hope’—green bracelets representing hope and survival. This initiative was showcased during their matches against Real Betis and Real Oviedo. The intention is to replace symbols of mourning with symbols of hope, reflecting the potential for increased survivability among cancer patients.

Annual Fundraising Campaign

Valencia CF and Fundació VCF collaborate annually with AECC–Comunitat Valenciana on a fundraising campaign scheduled for May. This effort aims to amplify awareness and raise contributions for cancer research. The Club also highlights the significant work of several relevant local organizations, including:

  • Amunt contra el Cáncer
  • Dragon Boat Marina Valencia
  • Fundación Pequeño Deseo
  • Fundación Aladina
  • INCLIVA
  • Casa Ronald
  • Aspanion

These organizations contribute crucial support and resources to cancer patients and their families. Through initiatives like ‘ADN Mestalla Solidari,’ Valencia CF and Fundació VCF continue to promote hope and resilience in the face of cancer.
