Earlier Tuesday, the Thunder made a move ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, sending Dieng and a second-round pick to the Charlotte Hornets for veteran center Mason Plumlee, sources told ESPN. Dieng was later re-routed to the Chicago Bulls as part of a multi-team deal that also included guards Coby White and Mike Conley Jr. heading to Charlotte.
The Thunder acquired veteran center Mason Plumlee from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for forward Ousmane Dieng and a 2029 second-round draft pick, Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti announced today.
Plumlee, a 13-year NBA veteran averages of 7.9 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 21.6 minutes per game across 874 career appearances (480 starts) with Brooklyn, Portland, Denver, Detroit, Charlotte, the LA Clippers, and Phoenix.
However, Plumlee is expected to be waived, a move that would create roster flexibility and clear space following the Thunder’s recent acquisition of Jared McClain.
Despite the mounting injuries, Oklahoma City enters Wednesday night’s showdown against the San Antonio Spurs with the NBA’s best record at 40-11. The Thunder are coming off a 128-92 home win over Orlando.
