NBA trade deadline live updates: Ex-Pistons draft pick traded to Lakers

Note: Refresh this page throughout NBA trade deadline day for the latest Pistons news and rumors.

10:40 a.m. — Former Pistons guard Luke Kennard is on the move, heading from the Atlanta Hawks to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick. Kennard is leading the NBA in three-point percentage at a career-best 49.7%.

10:00 a.m. — The Chicago Bulls have reportedly made another deal, sending guard Ayo Dosunmu to the Minnesota Timberwolves. As the Bulls continued bringing in guards on expiring deals — like Detroit’s Jaden Ivey — it seemed likely that some were bound to be traded back out. The Timberwolves will send Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round picks to Chicago for Dosunmu and Julian Phillips.

It’s NBA trade deadline day. At 3 p.m. ET, all trades will need to be into the league office and if the Detroit Pistons do something similar to last season, conversations will go right until the deadline.

News that the Pistons were acquiring Dennis Schroder at the deadline last year came in about 15 minutes before the 3 p.m. cutoff.

This time around, Detroit is the frontrunner in the Eastern Conference with a thriving young roster. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t in a strong position to make a move with a strong collection of draft capital and plenty of expiring contracts that could be used to match salary for a trade.

The Pistons already made a move on Tuesday, ending Jaden Ivey’s tenure in Detroit shipping him to the Chicago Bulls for Kevin Huerter, Dario Saric and a 2026 first-round pick swap with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Reports throughout the last week have pointed to the Pistons being on the less aggressive side of this deadline, compared to teams like the Cleveland Cavaliers, who acquired James Harden and the Boston Celtics after adding Nikola Vucevic.

This is president of basketball operations Trajan Langdon’s second deadline with the Pistons and he’s yet to push many chips in, but if the right deal comes up, maybe this will be where he shows his hand.

The Pistons have been linked to a handful of players who have yet to be moved, so it’ll be worth keeping an eye on Detroit throughout the day.

This post will update throughout Thursday with any Pistons trade rumors or news as well as major deals that get done around the NBA, which could impact what business Detroit does.
