Emergency services kept busy as severe weather continues

Emergency services have been kept busy as severe weather continues to affect Gibraltar, prompting evacuations and multiple safety callouts. One incident has left a residential building unsafe and several residents displaced.

Eight flats were evacuated after a partial wall collapse at a building in Turnbull’s Lane.

The Fire and Rescue Service says the incident was caused by strong winds and heavy rain, and that the building has been deemed unsafe. Making the area secure required a multi-agency response involving the Fire and Rescue Service and the Police, with efforts hampered by ongoing weather conditions.

Emergency services have also responded to several storm-related incidents across Gibraltar, including reports of loose metal sheeting on rooftops and falling masonry. Crews have attended callouts involving lift entrapments linked to weather-related power or system faults, as well as multiple alarm activations triggered by water ingress.

Members of the public are being urged to take extra care during the adverse weather, avoid unnecessary travel where possible, and report any hazards to the emergency services
